A Square Year

I did my longest ride for this summer and for this bike, about 120km. A nice ride on beautiful country roads. Mostly paved roads, but about 10km on smooth gravel roads. The 30mm wide Gran Bois Cypres are perfect for this kind of riding.

This is Oodi, the main library in Helsinki. This is straight from the camera JPEG shot in a very bright sunlight. I had a really hard time framing the picture, as you can probably tell. Optical viewfinder would be great in these situations, and I guess newer LCD screens are much brighter. This camera is, after all, over 15 years old.

I'm kind of an old school nerd and I've been using computers since 1986. Pixelart has a certain kind of nostalgia to me, and I've been intrigued by pixelart photos ever since I saw this Kickstarter campaign to create a pixelart camera.

I like the approach. We've been trying to mimic the film look on digital cameras for a long time, but this is the first time that we're actually creating photos that are totally unique for digital cameras and cannot be imitated by a film camera. Interesting, indeed.

3pm in the afternoon and it's already getting dark. The sky didn't look quite this dramatic and maybe I edited the picture a bit too much. I used the red filter for b&w conversion to make the sky a bit darker. Red filter used to be one of my favourites back in the black and white film days.
